• Bug#265263: orca: the .deb is empty

From simon raven@1:229/2 to All on Thu Aug 12 15:20:07 2004
    From: [email protected]

    Package: orca
    Version: 0.2.3
    Severity: grave
    Justification: renders package unusable

um, there's no ./configure section the debian/rules file, and there's no
files in the .deb except an init script, and the usual changelog and
other debian related files. no binaries, no scripts or anything in it.

oh, and there's a new version out you might want to check out just FYI.

    thanks

    Hi simon >@2004.08.12_14:52:12_+0200

Huh? The latest package is 0.2.3 which also happens to be the latest version
of the software (I know, I wrote it). The package also contains all the necessary files as you can see below.

I am closing the bug as there is obviously something very strange going on
    on your system (;

no there's nothing wrong with my install, i installed it via aptitude
like a lot of people do. i deleted the list you showed from this email, but that's my point. if you look at the upstream, there's a lot more files,
and there's no conf file at all in /etc, and no man page.

according to the list, you indicate that a man page is supposed to go in
man8, but there's no such man page. no docs at all actually, besides the changelog and the copyright.

and yes, i was wrong about there being new upstream :).

i should have said nearly empty, not "empty" like i said in the Subject:.

but this still doesn't explain why there's no man, and there's no
README.Debian to at least explain if there's anything needing to be done
to set it up properly, any 'gotchas' to watch for, etc. like explain why there's no /etc/orca.conf (as requested from the init script) and how to
    make one.
