• Bug#146138: #146138: rsync should be better about ENOSPC

I agree that rsync should handle this better. It is on the upstream
    TODO list.

Has any progress been made on this at all? The error message when the
other system runs out of disk space is still horrible and doesn't give
any clue at all why rsync is failing.

rsync: writefd_unbuffered failed to write 4 bytes: phase "unknown": Broken pipe rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(839)

I'm not maintaining rsync anymore. You'd need to ask on the list. As
far as I know there is no progress.

What a shame. Is anyone still maintaining it?

Yes, I am. Or do you mean upstream? In that case, yes, Wayne Davison is
very active (also on the list). JW Schultz was also very active, sadly
he passed away earlier this year.

AFAIK an attempted fix is in CVS which should improve it,
although I don't know whether it fixes it for all possible situations.
Hence the next release of rsync will contain the fix.
