• Bug#265240: Acknowledgement (rubber: Could not run latex.)

    Dear package maintainer,

    I have reset my default shell to bash, and the problem persist. I think
    the problem is related to e-TeX (coming from tetex-bin, the default
    debian tex package)

    When operating with extra verbosity I get:
    $ rubber -vvv Thinker
    This is Rubber version 0.99.7.
    initializing Rubber...
    ready
    parsing Thinker.tex
    no support found for article
    no support found for amsmath
    no support found for amsfonts
    end of Thinker.tex
    dependencies: ['Thinker.tex']
    checking if compiling is necessary...
    the log file is not produced by TeX
    building additional files...
    compiling Thinker.tex...
    executing: latex \nonstopmode\input{Thinker.tex}
    process 15627 (latex) returned 0
    Could not run latex.
    There were errors compiling Thinker.tex.

    The line 'the log file is not produced by TeX' notably is strange.

    Wouter
