• Bug#263124: More on modplugxmms FTBFS

From Ben Burton@1:229/2 to All on Thu Aug 12 12:00:16 2004
    From: [email protected]

    Hi.

Upstream has split modplugxmms into two entirely separate source
    tarballs (with different versions):

    libmodplug-0.7.tar.gz
    modplugxmms-2.05.tar.gz

Moreover, modplugxmms cannot be built until libmodplug has been installed.

I would argue that the correct solution is to:

    (i) package the new libmodplug as a separate source package;
(ii) make modplugxmms build-depend on libmodplug-dev.

Certainly the FTBFS errors currently showing up in the buildd logs are
not surprising, since the necessary code from libmodplug is not actually available in debian at all.

    Ben.

This was already done, actually. The problem was I screwed up the
control file. Work has been keeping me obscenely busy, but I'll try
to get a fixed package up soon.

I lied. I didn't screw up the control file; the problem is only
that the new libmodplug-dev hasn't gone into the archive yet because
it had a new source package. I think once the package goes in, it
    will build normally.

I lied. I didn't screw up the control file ...

I'm fairly sure that libmodplug-dev was not listed amongst the
build-depends. It does need to be there.

Odd. I didn't modify the control file tonight, and my tree shows ...

    /me looks again

Ah, indeed you are correct. Pardon me.

It's worth noting that what went wrong with the autobuilders was that
they were installing the old libmodplug-dev that came with
modplugxmms-2.04. Might it be worth making this a versioned
    build-depends?
