• Bug#265228: grub doesn't boot from /dev/hdb

From Henry Jensen@1:229/2 to All on Thu Aug 12 12:00:10 2004
    From: [email protected]

    Package: grub
    Version: 0.95+cvs20040624-7
    Severity: important

I setup my computer to boot from /dev/hdb. My root partition is
/dev/hdb3. Debian Installer created the following sections
    in /boot/grub/menu.lst:

    default 0
    timeout 5
    color cyan/blue white/blue

    title Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.7-1-386
    root (hd1,2)
    kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.7-1-386 root=/dev/hdb3 ro
    initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.7-1-386
    savedefault
    boot

title Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.7-1-386 (recovery mode)
    root (hd1,2)
    kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.7-1-386 root=/dev/hdb3 ro single
    initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.7-1-386
    savedefault
    boot

I installed grub in the MBR of /dev/hdb.

However, when I start the Computer, the boot menu appears. When
I select an option, grub says "(hd1,2) No such partition".
