Hello.
Andras Korn:
Package: ifupdown
Version: 0.6.4-4.10exp1
Severity: critical
Tags: experimental
Hi,
the latest experimental version of ifupdown breaks the system after the
first reboot, because no interfaces are brought up, not even lo.
I can't check whether this bug actually happens in unstable, but...
In /etc/init.d/ifupdown-clean, you shouldn't rm -f "$IFSTATE_CANONICALFILE"; instead, use e.g. echo -n >"$IFSTATE_CANONICALFILE" (like previous versions did).
shot@desaxe:~$ grep CANONICAL /etc/init.d/ifupdown-clean
if IFSTATE_CANONICALFILE="$(readlink -f $IFSTATE)" && [ "$IFSTATE_CANONICALFILE" ] ; then
rm -f "$IFSTATE_CANONICALFILE"
shot@desaxe:~$ LC_MESSAGES=C apt-cache policy ifupdown
ifupdown:
Installed: 0.6.4-4.9
Candidate: 0.6.4-4.9
Version Table:
0.6.4-4.10exp1 0
1
http://ftp.debian.org ../project/experimental/main Packages
*** 0.6.4-4.9 0
500
http://ftp.debian.org unstable/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
...I suspect that the bug applies to ifupdown 0.6.4-4.9 in sid as well.
Cheers,

Today is a good day. Not because anything wonderful is happening,
so much, but because my definition of a "bad day" has been revised.
