Package: rzip
Version: 2.0-1
Severity: important
Let's look at this:
time rzip -d hda1.ntfsclone.img.rz
Stream read failed
Fatal error - exiting
real 14m43.040s
user 6m2.840s
sys 6m12.640s
eyck@:/fs/tmp$ ls
hda1.ntfsclone.img hda1.ntfsclone.img.rz
eyck@:/fs/tmp$ du -sh *
5.3G hda1.ntfsclone.img
968M hda1.ntfsclone.img.rz
Originally this file had 2.3G size, this happens on reliable machine.
One probably very important thing though - this was sparse file, made by ntfsclone...,
but even taking into consideration rzip not handling such files, it should decompress into ~6G file
with ~4G filled with 0s.
(Very impressive compression though, where bzip2 -9 makes 350M files, rzip -9 makes ~220M archives,
ideal tool for long-term archiving... if only decompression would work)
