Package: cdrecord
Version: 4:2.0+a34-1
Severity: important
I compiled and installed the vanilla kernel 2.6.8.1 without the ide-scsi emulation option. Since then i was able to burn cd's through the ATAPI interface without a need for the old ide-scsi emulation. When i try to
urn a CD, cdrecord reports the following error (through xcdroast):
----------snip----------
Calling: /usr/lib/xcdroast/bin/xcdrwrap CDRECORD dev= "ATAPI:0,0,0"
gracetime=2 fs=4096k driveropts=burnfree -v -useinfo speed=10 -dao

devname: 'ATAPI'

Warning: Using ATA Packet interface.
Warning: The related Linux kernel interface code seems to be
unmaintained.
Warning: There is absolutely NO DMA, operations thus are slow.

cdrecord: Drive does not support SAO recording.
NOTE: this version of cdrecord is an inofficial (modified) release of
cdrecord
cdrecord: Illegal write mode for this drive.
and thus may have bugs that are not present in the original version. ---------snap------------
Suggested workaround:
CD-Burning through the deprecated ide-scsi interface should still work.
