I'm unable to print from oowriter with CUPS. Openoffice signals that
the print job was sent ok, but nothing prints.

I cannot print from oopadmin either.

I can print from all other applications. My cups setup works
perfectly.

I have tried setting all kinds of commands in oopadmin, using lpr, lp
or nothing at all. It make no difference.

I'm unable to setup another printer in oopadmin. Only CUPS printers
are allowed.

Currently the only workaround I have found is to set CUPS_SERVER to a non-existant host, so I can get the option of using a generic printer,
to which I can set the correct lp command to print to my preferred
printer. It does allow me to print in a restricted way.

Monitoring the logs on the cups server when sending a print from ooo
shows little interaction (entire log for a single "job"):
