• Bug#195825: Any progress?

From Steve Greenland@1:229/2 to All on Thu Aug 12 00:30:09 2004
    From: [email protected]

This bug has been unchanged for over a year. As far as I can tell, directory-administrator is useless in sarge: you can't modify existing
users, and you can't create new ones. Is there any reason that this bug shouldn't be escalated to RC, and the package removed from sarge?

I'm not against d-a, it's just that I've wasted the last couple of hours
trying to figure out what I was doing wrong, and it's extremely unfair
to our (Debian's) users to distribute software that is known to not
    work.

At the least, you should add to the description and README.Debian:

This package does *NOT* work with the OpenLDAP server distributed
with Debian, only with older (pre-2.1) LDAP servers.

    Regards,
    Steve

You're right. Probably d-a should be removed from sarge, in the hope that before
sarge+1 upstream decides one way to go about structural object classes and releases
    another version of the software.

    Thanks,

    Guido
