  • Bug#267239: gramps: does not depend on Python

    Package: gramps
    Version: 1.0.5a-1
    Severity: normal

    Since gramps doesn't depend on python, it is possible to have gramps
    installed but not Python. Running gramps fails with the error:

    /usr/bin/gramps: line 40: /usr/bin/python: No such file or directory /usr/bin/gramps: line 40: exec: /usr/bin/python: No such file or directory

    on python2.3 which depends on python. It should not be possible
    to install gramps without having python installed, unless the normal
    mechanisms of dependency resolutions are overridden. If this is
    the case then it pretty much does not matter what they are :-)

    I believe that python2.3 was installed, but python was not. python2.3
    doesn't depend on python, although python depends on python2.3
