    I'm having the same problem. But it's stalling on /de instead:

    I got this problem too when trying to dist-upgrade.

    For me it halted on cy+en as well.
    When it halted, if i pressed q + enter, it would say:

    /usr/bin/ucf: line 40: return: a: numeric argument required
    dpkg: error processing mailscanner (--configure):
    subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 255
    Errors were encountered while processing:
    mailscanner
    E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

    If I tried again and just pressed enter a few times, it would show the dialog where you get to chose to view diffs/keep/replace the file, but the dialog would not accept any commands, not even ctrl+c.

    I carried out the lines manually as suggested by another person, and then it worked. When I did them manually, for some files I got the option of viewing diffs/replacing or keeping my old copy and then I could make choices like usual.

    I tried ucf 1.07 and 1.08.

    Hello!

    Wheen I try to upgrade the packege to the current version in sarge, I
    can't.

    /usr/bin/ucf --debconf-ok /usr/share/MailScanner/reports/cy+en/

    On an other system it fails, when it does this job with cy, not cy+en,
    but never with other languages.
    Both of these systems are up to date sarge.
