  • Bug#265030: lyx: Spell checking fails

    When I run the spell checker, I get a box that says:

    The spell-checker has failed

    Can't open /usr/lib/ispell/english.hash

    However, running ispell foo.txt from the command line works fine.

    The referenced file doesn't exist, but I don't know why LyX is
    complaining:

    Yes, I've found in my testing that it does this with almost every file.. Unfortunately, I've yet to track it down. I'll look into it further and see what else I can find and will keep you updated.

    Here's a workaround I discovered for anyone that may be experiencing
    this problem: use aspell.

    No idea why that works but ispell doesn't.
