  • Bug#267127: conflicting /usr/bin/xpp with package iraf.

    Hello,

    Trying to install xpp on a up to date sarge box gives the following :

    (--unpack):
    trying to overwrite `/usr/bin/xpp', which is also in package iraf
    dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
    Errors were encountered while processing:
    /var/cache/apt/archives/xpp_1.1-0.3_i386.deb
    E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

    $ dpkg -l | grep iraf
    ii iraf 2.11.3-2 Image Reduction and Analysis Facility (astronomy/imaging)
    ii iraf-ibin 2.11.3-3 IRAF -
    Core i386 Linux binaries
    ii iraf-noaobin 2.11.3-2 IRAF -
    NOAO i386 Linux binaries

    It seems iraf is not in sarge or sid any more.

    Severity and Justification choosen following http://release.debian.org/sarge_rc_policy.txt.

    FYI: You really only need to add
    Conflicts: iraf
    to resolve this. - iraf has been removed (#232472) and is only in stable
    not in sarge or sid.
