reopen 262672
reassign 262672 initrd-tools
thanks
This bug seems to belong to initrd-tools, sorry for the mess, it wasn't
that obvious.
Made a "dpkg-install-kernel-image.strace", which is the result of:
strace -f -o dpkg-install-kernel-image.strace \
dpkg -i kernel-image-2.6.7-bee-2_1_i386.deb
You should see that the cpio error happens in a process launched by
mkinitrd (grep your mkinitrd for cpio).
Manoj Srivastava: I saw in the strace that depmod is called with a "-a"
flag which is undocumented, is this correct?
Marco d'Itri <

PS: attached is only the output of the commands, the strace is at:

/initrd.img does not exist. Installing from scratch, eh?
Or maybe you don't want a symbolic link here. Hmm? Lets See.
