• Bug#267054: Samba makes Windows explorer crash when copying files

From Per Olofsson@1:229/2 to All on Fri Aug 20 14:40:12 2004

    Package: samba
    Version: 3.0.5-2
    Severity: important
    Tags: sarge sid

When users copy files using Windows explorer (file manager) from a
Samba share, explorer very often crashes with the following
    message:

"explorer.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You
will need to restart the program. An error log is being created."

The error occurs both on Windows 2000 and Windows XP, and both with
Samba 3.0.5-1 and 3.0.5-2, although it seemed like the problem wasn't
as likely to occur when running the latter. When I downgrade to the
Samba in woody (2.2.3a-13), however, the problem goes away.

I would set the severity to serious, but I don't know how many other
people are affected by this problem, or perhaps if it's just that I'm
    doing something wrong.

Could you provide a bit more details about your setup? Your Debian version?
The kind of system & network you use?

Samba 3.0.5-1 has been out for a while, and nobody has never reported some that bad misbehaviour.

    Cheers,

    Fabien
