• Bug#267041: hinfo: missing dependency on bash

    From martin f krafft@1:229/2 to All on Fri Aug 20 13:40:08 2004
    From: [email protected]

    Package: hinfo
    Version: 1.01-3
    Severity: normal

The postinst script uses /bin/bash, but hinfo does not depend on
bash. The preferred way to deal with this is to make sure the
postinst does not use bashisms and can thus use and POSIX sh.
Otherwise, please declare a dependency on bash.

    Thanks,

bash is an essential package, an unversioned dependancy on it would be
    a bug. (debian policy 3.5)

However, the postinst code that depended on bash has already been
eliminated, and I will change postint to use /bin/sh in the next
update. I'm leaving this bug open as wishlist as a reminder.

With Microsoft, failure is not an option. It is a standard feature.

Mh. weird. Over an issue over at xfree86-common, I thought we had
concluded that it is not essential. But it is priority essential...

    Sorry for the noise.
