• Bug#266009: cdrecord: doesn't recognize my cd-burner with vanilla kerne

    From Rolf Kutz@1:229/2 to All on Fri Aug 20 12:30:15 2004

    2.00.3 is the very _old_ version. Debian sid/sarge is tracking the development version, which will be released as newstable real
    soon(TM), possibly early enough for sarge.

    So could you suggest a workaroud till then?

    There are multiple known workarounds:
    * do not run 2.6.8
    * use old cdrecord
    * run cdrecord as root
    * patch the kernel
