    I don't understand what's the holdup given the good analysis of the
    problem and even two patches.

    I was queueing up a whole bunch of issues for a total rewrite of the xserver-xfree86 config script.

    You persuaded me on IRC that that's a bad idea, though (at this time, due
    to the looming freeze). I'll fix as many of the bugs as I can without rewriting the script totally. This is one of them.
