Hello,
On the latest 0.81-1 release, some Yahoo emoticons fail to replace the
text. Not sure if this is to do with the change log entry for Gaim ( http://gaim.sf.net/ChangeLog ) that says "Better smiley substitution"
or not.
Emoticons I've found so far that don't work are:
:) :( :-s
and all on Yahoo. It seems MSN and AIM (don't know about other
protocols) emoticons are be fine, at least the ones I've used.
Thanks.
I'm still having this problem - can anybody else confirm?
I've discovered that if you write the emoticon and put a space or other words/characters after it, it will display as normal. However if I use
the emoticon at the end of a line, then it doesn't show.
So if I send
testing :)
it doesn't work and I just see the text "testing :)" but
testing :) emoticons
shows the smiley emoticon as expected. It also only appears to happen
to my text in a conversation, i.e. the other person's emoticons all
appear as normal.
I'd have thought this is an upstream bug, but I don't have any
non-Debian machines at the moment to put 0.81 on and test. As I said
before, this only happens on Yahoo and as far as I can tell, only :), :(
and :-s emoticons.
