Before we take a look at this in more detail ... have you tried to tweak
around with the advanced server settings dialog: Account Setting -> (AccountName) -> ServerSettings -> Advanced [IMAP] ?
Maybe there is a chance that some features are not supported by courier
and break the server. Maybe your namespaces are not correct and
thunderbird somehow has a problem to idenitify them.
Please gather as much information from evolution as you can get (e.g.
those settings that are available in thunderbird ... how are they in
evolution if somehow comparable)?
