Finally, I think I know where the problem lies. I copied the extended
config file (/usr/share/doc/cgiirc/examples/cgiirc.config.full.gz) to /etc/cgiirc and renamed it, since I wanted a lot more control. Check that file, I think you'll find the error lies there.

I fixed the image path and it works.

    Okay, good to hear.

When my workstation at home is back operational, I'll add a
short paragraph to the shipped /etc/cgiirc/cgiirc.config,
that we have special settings in here for Debian and one
should be cautious to change them (especialy image_path).

    I hope, that will help?

That should work. I'd also change the image path in the example file for
the full config. That way when people use that config they'll still have
    the correct paths.

    Greetings,
    Bas

Well, those are the configs straight as they're shipped
    upstream, we included them unmodified...

I'll think of copying them in temp space, running sed on
them and then installing them in the examples directory...

Since my workstation at home has to be fixed before I do
anything about it, there's plenty of time to discuss this
    simple problem. ;o))

Well, I'd prefer to keep the file as untouched as possible.
It is the one shipped by upstream.
So I personally would also prefer addng comments to our own
    config and README.Debian perhaps.

    just my 2 cents,
    Mario
