    If I hide the main window (Notification Area), and an account disconnects
    and reconnects, upon that reconnection the main window reappears and takes focus.

    A window already appears (and also steal focus) notifying the user of the reconnection.

    Please prevent the reappearance of the main window. Even better would be to also cause the reconnection window to not steal focus.

    do you use metacity?

    Yes.

    I thought so. we are not currently accepting focus bugs from metacity
    users because that window manager has insane ideas of when and how a
    window should be focused.
