    Well, I tried drafting a substantive reply to these comments but it
    didn't seem to come out very usefully. The bottom line is that I
    still prefer my wording.

    Patches 1-4 have been seconded by Russ. I'm hoping patch 5 isn't controversial. Could I have a second for the revised version of the
    series?
