Perhaps, although I don't believe we have consistent activation
of Salsa CI accross all Perl packages handled by the team to
make tag2upload shine just yet. In the past there were concerns
that bulk updates brought to the whole set of 4000 Perl packages
would degrade the Salsa CI service if they triggered all at the
same time. Maybe tag2upload is a good opportunity to revisit
    these concerns, determine mitigations, etc?

You may be missing the part that tag2upload is told about every tag push
for all repositories on salsa. Its a global system hook. So it doesn't
need any special handling to know about when it has to do some work.

I'm a bit concerned about the missing pristine-tar integration. From
my understanding (which might be wrong) the following could happen:

    - Person A imports a new upstream release (as a tarball from the
CPAN) and uploads the package with tag2upload.
    - tag2upload in this case creates an *.orig.tar.gz not from the
pristine-tar branch but with git-deborig from one or another
    upstream tag.
    - Person B wants to upload a -2 revison and doesn't use tag2upload.
In this case their build system will generate an *.orig.tar.gz from
the pristine-tar branch and include its checksum in *.dsc file.
    - And boom!, dak will reject the upload because different checksums.

Just my understanding right now, and I might be wrong, and I hope I
    am :) But currently I'm a bit unsure about using tag2upload 1) in a
team which 2) works from upstream tarballs.

    Cheers,

As Sean mentioned, I also don't think there's a relation between
salsaci and tag2upload. But regarding salsaci:
I thought we had agreed to bury this topic in the Bof last week but
maybe it was only me mentioning that I would prefer not to have this
topic on each and every BoF agenda since 2019 or whatever without
    coming to any result :)

But if there is a desire to discuss this here on the mailing list and
come to a consensus that's of course also totally fine for me.
