Check if there's still a konqueror process running and kill that before logging out. Does that 'fix' it?

It was actually one of Konqueror config settings that caused it, setting it to OFF resolved the issue:

Konqueror menu > Settings > Configure Konqueror > KDE performance > Always try to have one preloaded instance > Off
