Did you look at the various log files?

- /var/log/auth.log
- /var/log/ssdm.log
- /var/log/user.log

come to my mind. I'd check for any updated log files in /var/log after a
failed login attempt. Probably like this: find /var/log --mmin -3

Also did you test user login on a tty?

Also if you are using SDDM from experimental, maybe downgrading to the one
in unstable may help? However here 0.21.0-3 works nicely, except for not loading the theme I would like to use.

Note that you must use the email that is subscribed. If you have a subscribed email that is forwarding to another email, using the email address receiving the forward won’t work (because the list server doesn’t know about the forward). You can tell if your subscription is being forwarded by inspecting the email headers.

I've installed SDDM from Sid. I get login screen, enter username/password

and

hit Enter and ... get the SDDM login screen again. Endless loop.

Using Ctrl Alt F4 I get shell login, and do so. In the shell I enter

"startx"

and the KDE tandwheel appears and I get the KDE desktop. Nice!

How to debug SDDM? Where to look for debug info.
