• Re: Trixie installer doesn't detect my Intel wi-fi interface

    Hi,

    Cleverson Casarin Uliana <[email protected]> (2025-05-31):
I want to install Debian using the Netinst image for Trixie. It isn't detecting my wi-fi interface. I'm sure it is detectable, because the netinst for Bookworm detects it, along with the Ethernet interface, at the step 8 (network setup) of the installation in expert mode. the wi-fi interface is shown with a name starting in "wlp". the current, Trixie netinst detects
only the interface starting in "enp44", which is the ethernet.

I'm attaching /var/log/syslog from my attempt to install with the Trixie's netinst. I only went as far as network setup. I'm also attaching the result of lspci, lspci -n, and lsmod on my machine, in case it's useful for you to investigate my issue.

Do you happen to dual-boot this machine? Lots of hits for iwlwifi for
that specific error message, with the Linux/Windows cohabitation that's apparently known to be problematic, with some internal state that might
    need some reset.

    Cheers,

    thanks a lot!

Oh wow, that's a huge relief, and I'm glad that's actually so easily fixed/worked around on your side!

Yes; Bookworm is able to detect the card even with Windows hibernated.
Notice that I didn't proceed to the end of the Bookworm installation, so
I can't say if the card would work propperly afterwards.

    Cheers,

You wrote that it worked with bookworm installer. Was it in the exact
same conditions (after hibernating Windows) ? If yes, it sounds like a regression in driver iwlwifi between linux 6.1 and 6.12.
