  • Bug#1081698: RM: debian-installer [armel] -- ROM; armel support goes aw

From Cyril Brulebois@21:1/5 to All on Sat Sep 14 01:10:02 2024
    Package: ftp.debian.org

    Hi,

armel is EOL'd as far as linux/debian-installer support goes, and we
have nothing to build on armel anymore.

Please remove the debian-installer binary on armel. It contains some documentation but mainly records a bunch of packages via Built-Using.

This is part 1 (out of 2) of the plan drafted a while back:
    https://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2024/03/msg00016.html
    https://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2024/03/msg00025.html

I have no opinion as to whether (not) cleaning up the installer-armel directory[1] should happen in an arch-specific manner. I'd expect having
both initial and current version in the bookworm directory[2] would be sufficient in case someone needs a DeLorean.

    1. https://deb.debian.org/debian/dists/unstable/main/installer-armel/
    2. https://deb.debian.org/debian/dists/bookworm/main/installer-armel/

I've Cc'd the ARM porters list in case someone has an opinion about
    that.

    Cheers,
