Hi Ernesto,
Ernesto Alfonso <[email protected]> (2023-05-13):
I'm attempting to setup Debian on a Dell Inspiron All-in-One system,
either as dual boot or replacing the existing windows 10 OS.
The installer hangs after entering either the "graphical install", "install" or "live" options from the initial menu. I used the latest
64-bit installer: debian-11.7.0-amd64-netinst.iso, burned onto a USB
drive using the dd command:
sudo dd if=/debian-11.7.0-amd64-netinst.iso of=/dev/sda
A couple more options may help: it's sometimes possible that you've extracted the USB stick while files were still writing.
sudo dd if=/debian-11.7.0-amd64-netinst.iso of=/dev/sda bs=1M oflag=dsync status=progress
This forces a sync on each write to the usb so you don't lose data and also gives you a brief status output on the size written.
Cheers,
