I'm Dave Jones, currently at Canonical where I work on Raspberry Pi
related things. I'm also the author of / contributor to a few (largely
Pi related) Python packages, including gpiozero (which is currently in
Debian). I'd like to join the Debian Python team partly to help maintain
the packages where I'm involved with the upstream (such as gpiozero),
and partly in the hopes of helping get some of the Python packages which

I'm [currently packaging][1] a C++ library which depends on [Poxy], a documentation generator currently not packaged by Debian. I don't know
much about Python (I especially don't know anything about its

Sadly I did not read all the things in the correct order, and this one is not following your packaging recommendations. This is going to be an exception, my future Python packages are going to stick to the team recommendations.

If you think this is problematic, I can rework the git repository while still ensuring it produces the exact same package. I work with git a lot so this would not be too much of a complex task.

The next package I plan to introduce is ffmpeg-normalize, a Python script wrapping ffmpeg, used to normalise the audio volume of media files. In order to package it, I would need to introduce a missing dependency first: ffmpeg-progress-yield.

Every single of your emails ends up in the spam folder,
so recinting in full to get others a chance to read it.

This seems to be related to DMARC and Debian mail server not rewriting the From: field. It’s really tricky, I’ve been discussing this with several people
and we could not find a reliable solution.

I should soon start posting here with an @debian.org e-mail, that should make that problem go away ;)

DPT requires a pristine-tar branch, and only upstream tarballs can be used to advance the upstream branch. Complete upstream Git history should be avoided in the upstream branch.

I instead included the full upstream git history, not a tarball import as a single commit.

Branch names are not following the Team policy either, with "debian/latest" instead of "debian/master", and "master" instead of "upstream".

This can all be fixed while still producing the exact same packages, I plan to work on that soon.
