• Fwd: [bts-link] source package src:backintime

From [email protected]@21:1/5 to All on Tue Jun 3 09:20:01 2025
    Hello Folks,
I still struggle with the bug system. I got this mail. What does it
mean? Can someone translate this for human begins?

I see no relevant context in the linked mailing list mail from year
    2006.

    And what triggers such mails?

    Regards,
    Christian Buhtz

This is really unfortunate because it directly answers all questions you asked.

    And what triggers such mails?

    Especially this one.

That list is "my" Debian community. It is that part of the community I

To me it don't. It talks about a "new" tool named "bts-link".

    And what triggers such mails?
    Especially this one.

    I don't understand.

    Thank you again.

Please don't send random unrelated emails to technical Debian mailing lists.

I see no relevant context in the linked mailing list mail from

Yes. The tool that generated this email. It also explains how it works.
In any case you don't need to care about it, not being a maintainer.

    Hello Joost,
thank you for explaining. It becomes clearer to me.

I was not able to find a "bts-link" package to open a ticket. Is
"devscripts" the related package I should use?

    Best
    Christian

    Hi Christian,

I think the message you got was triggered by activity on either https://bugs.debian.org/1106754 or https://github.com/bit-team/backintime/pull/2163 . The bts-link tool's
purpose it to keep the Debian Bug Trackins System in sync with relevant information on upstream activity like e.g. github Pull Requests.

    HTH, Bye,

    Joost
