viewing a compressed file with ark embedded in konqueror, then going
back one directory causes konqueror to crash. so far it seems to
happen only to *.rar files.
steps:
1 - right click -> properties -> file type options -> embedding ->
show file in embedded viewer -> ok.
2 - click on the file so it shows its contents.
3 - click on either "Back" or "Up" buttons on the toolbar to change
dir.

The only advice I can give you would be to wait until new updates are available, albeit that it is no guarantee that the bug will have been
fixed. (This under the assumption that it is indeed a bug in the
software and that it's not specific to your machine/installation.)
The upstream KDE developers sure aren't going to fix it, because KDE 4.x
has reached end-of-life, and KDE 5 (alias Plasma 5) is all the rage now,
even though at version 5.6 it still doesn't cover all of the
functionality of KDE 4.
One possible way of circumventing the problem could be if you opt to use Dolphin directly as the file manager. When Konqueror is used in file
manager mode in KDE 4, then it loads Dolphin as a Kpart, which is also
how it loads Ark. If you use Dolphin as the file manager, then Ark will
be a separate process, without the overhead of also having to run
Konqueror, and this would probably avoid the crashes you are seeing.
Just my two cents, but then again, this is Usenet. ;)
