    WHAT: Graphical Embedding with FRESCO
Fresco is an object-oriented user interface system under
development as a standard part of X11R6. The Fresco API covers
functionality in Xlib and Xt and adds support for the structured
graphics and application embedding. Fresco has three fundamental
features that distinguish it from Xt and most other APIs for
    graphical user interfaces:

    - Standard object model from the Object
    Management Group (OMG)

    - Resolution independence

    - Graphical embedding

This talk will give an overview of Fresco and focus on the support
for graphical embedding, which is a unification of structured
    graphics and application embedding.

    WHO: Mark Linton, Silicon Graphics

Mark Linton is a Principal Scientist at Silicon Graphics, Inc.,
leading the development of the Fresco user interface system. Prior
to joining SGI, he was an assistant professor in the Computer Systems Laboratory at Stanford University (1983-90). He has published papers
on a variety of computer systems topics, was the original author of
the debugger, Dbx, and led the development of the C++ user interface
toolkit, InterViews. His current research interests are in distributed objects, user interfaces and programming environments.
