Good Evening,
I just joined the group. I am not an expert and just started looking at cellular automata as a topic for a computer algebra class I teach a short time ago.
I discovered (rediscovered?) a couple of simple cellular automata while preparing some material for this class.
Here is a link to a page I made about them: https://www.wcupa.edu/sciences-mathematics/mathematics/jMcLaughlin/cellauto.aspx
I would be grateful for any information anyone can give about them, particularly pointers to any sources that discuss them, if they are not new.

Hi James,
Your first automata is very well known and studied under the name "replicator".
A Google search of "B1357 S1357" will give you many references.
