I was using one of the available tutorials for a new Imac user and when
I go to mission control, i get the no windows available. I would swear
I had multiple programs available in the mission control before I
changed something (?) trying to learn. is there defaults for the
mission control?

Mission Control shows you the apps and windows you *currently* have
open. So go ahead and open some apps & windows, and have fun. ; )
