• Even Apple employees hate Siri

From Thomas E.@21:1/5 to All on Thu May 4 13:26:53 2023
No wonder, Siri is years behind Google and even Bing. I have been trying out Siri/Apple Maps only because Apple Maps shows turn-by-turn on my Accord's HUD and Google does not. Monday, delivering Meal on Wheels, I needed directions to a new client, in a
group home as it turned out. I asked Siri for directions. The lookup failed, returning no street number, only the street name. Google Maps voice search did find it. The place has been there for decades, but not on a street I frequent.

You are the bullshitter. Why would I say this if it's not true, shit-stain asshole. Proof:

This is the one: Manor Care, 12999 N Pennsylvania St, Carmel

Here is my redacted May 1, 2023 MOW route sheet: https://drive.google.com/file/d/14Xg0rDLIUWcFY1K6MZOudxdwwAqxqv4-/view?usp=share_link

Note no complete street address, just the street location. The point indicated is 2 miles away.

Now here is the Google Maps result, exactly the same verbal request: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qREIiftWabKse49NRapj0_vFYA9LX-_4/view?usp=share_link
Bingo! Exact location. It's a large assisted living group home. Been there for many years.

I note you do not dispute that even Apple employees that Siri is not up to snuff.

Indeed. And I just showed that Siri find it fine by either name or address.

I note you do not dispute that even Apple employees that Siri is not
    up to snuff.

I'm sure there are Microsoft employees who aren't wild about Bing, either.

    I didn't address it... ...because it's irrelevant.

    You're lying or incompetent.
    Turns out it was incompetence.

Here is a video using Siri and then Google Maps voice search to
find the address. I made the video using my wife's iPhone 14 and
my iPhone 14 Pro connected to CarPlay in my Accord.

Turns out you cannot video a Siri search with your own phone.
Two apps competing for the same mic does not work for any 2

    Anyway, here it is:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gBvplQ_KLd2Akddq99PKvEpnxsw-ffRw/view?usp=share_link

Siri shows only the street location, not the address. Google finds

    Incompetent:

    'Use Siri to get directions

You can keep focused on the road by using Siri to get directions.
And by listening to turn-by-turn spoken directions, you can follow
driving, cycling, and walking directions without even looking at

    Siri: Say something like:

“Get directions to the nearest coffee shop”

    “Find a charging station”

You totally fail to address the issue. I used both Siri and Google to >>> get directions. Google does turn-by-turn vocal directions too. Google >>> does find the nearest too. And you don't need to even look at the map >>> with Google either.

What would you have me do differently?
Use the phrase that I told you to use.

Use the phrase that Apple's support page tells you to use.

The issue is that Siri failed to find the place I wanted to go when I >>> spoke the exact address. Want to see some more Siri/Maps failures?
The issue is that by not starting with "directions to" or "navigate to", >> Siri misunderstood you.

Your claim that Siri is unable to navigate to that exact address was
WRONG, Little Shit. And if you hadn't been so excited to find what you
    thought was a "flaw"...

...you might have done at least one web search for "how to use siri for >> navigation"...

...where the very first hit would have told you what you were doing wrong.

    <https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=how+to+use+siri+for+navigation&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8>

Why do I even need Siri instructions? Siri is so dumb you need to
read an instruction book first? ROTFLMAO!

LOL, you shut off your video before showing that the location was
actually found. You lied by omission. What's new?

Here is what happened when I followed your "navigate to/go to" with Siri:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JAsc9Q9eLZ4pjkMtDpGRed812g7AQFeo/view?usp=sharing

Nothing changed, failed. So, I tried to use Apple Maps to find
bakerMEDIA. Failed again. Tried that in Google Maps. First try failed,
tried again and found you. Then asked Siri to find my model aircraft
flying field. Failed. Google finds it just fine.

What book do I need to read to figure out Siri.

Please make your video again and show the results on the map.

Last thing, why can't I get Hey Google to work on iPhone without
opening the Google Assistant? In other words, in place of Hey Siri? Oh,
I already know. It's so much better than Siri that Apple would never
allow it. LOL you little shit.
You really are one of the least honest people I've ever had the
    misfortune to encounter, Little Shit.

    1. "Why do I even need Siri instructions?"

Every piece of software ever written has operating instructions, Little Shit. And everyone I've ever encountered knows that to kick of a request
for directions you start with "Directions to" or "Navigate to".

    2. "LOL, you shut off your video before showing that the location was actually found."

That's a lie. You heard me ask Siri for directions and you could read
the text that she also spoke:

"Getting directions to 12999 Pennsylvania St, Carmel, IN, US" is
literally shown to you in my video. The text appears at 00:08 and
    remains until 00:14.

Then you can clearly see the interface for origin and destination appear with "My Location" as the origin and "12999 Pennsylvania..." shown as
    the destination.

Then it shows an overview of the entire route, clearly showing it begins
in Vancouver and ends in Carmel.

    3. "Here is what happened when I followed your "navigate to/go to" with Siri:"

So having already pressed a button in the interface so it is expecting
and address to be given, you NOW preface your address with "directions to"?

    LOLOLOLOLOL!

    LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO

"Every piece of software ever written has operating instructions, Little
Shit. And everyone I've ever encountered knows that to kick of a request
for directions you start with "Directions to" or "Navigate to".

    This is a blatant lie.

Dumbass, the iOS Google Maps app is software. Just open Google Maps and give it only an address. The software finds it. No need for a preface. But that's expected. It is a Maps app.

Now, open the Google app SOFTWARE, not Google Maps. Ask for the 12999 N. Pennsylvania Carmel address. It displays a map. Tap on the map. Then tap Start. It takes you to Maps, with driving directions. Google understands that you might want to find the
address and go to it. That's why I use Google, not the POS Siri.

    Next:

"Then it shows an overview of the entire route, clearly showing it begins
in Vancouver and ends in Carmel."

Siri found Carmel! There isn't an honest bone in your entire body. You failed to show that Siri found the correct street or street number.

Yes, Siri found Carmel IN, but where in Carmel? Is it the actual location or not? You did not zoom in on Carmel to see if the location was right or not.

Here is a short video showing that Siri gets the spoken address with number right, then fails to find the correct location. Then I then enter the address manually and it goes to the correct location. The problem is that the handoff between Siri and Maps
fails. The address is real, Maps can find it!

    Details:

It's a screen recording, no sound. I ask Siri to get directions to the address. You can see on the screen Siri appears to get it right, then the street number gets dropped when Maps tries to find the address. I manually select the address from recent and
    Maps gets it right.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wY-1b6GmRnIF4SNqrqNQR4IWaEpQ4EN4/view?usp=share_link

Now, here is Google Maps finding the same address via voice command. Google gets the dictation right and finds the location correctly. As I stated above, the Google app itself also finds the correct location by voice command.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yDy3Yfho_yxIA38ZrP2ABZMwCX8gvpAc/view?usp=share_link

Please do your search over and show that Siri actually found the correct Carmel address, not just the city!

Now ask Siri then Google to find directions to "bakerMEDIA Vancouver British Columbia". LOL

    Siri can't even find you!

Siri showed you in words that it found the precise address:

"Getting directions to 12999 Pennsylvania St, Carmel, IN, US"

You totally fail to address the issue. I used both Siri and Google to
get directions. Google does turn-by-turn vocal directions
too. Google does find the nearest too. And you don't need to
even look at the map with Google either.

What would you have me do differently?
Use the phrase that I told you to use.

Use the phrase that Apple's support page tells you to use.

The issue is that Siri failed to find the place I wanted to
go when I spoke the exact address. Want to see some more
    Siri/Maps failures?
The issue is that by not starting with "directions to" or
    "navigate to", Siri misunderstood you.

Your claim that Siri is unable to navigate to that exact
address was WRONG, Little Shit. And if you hadn't been so
excited to find what you thought was a "flaw"...

...you might have done at least one web search for "how to use
    siri for navigation"...

...where the very first hit would have told you what you were
    doing
    wrong.

    <https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=how+to+use+siri+for+navigation&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8>

Why do I even need Siri instructions? Siri is so dumb you need to
read an instruction book first? ROTFLMAO!

LOL, you shut off your video before showing that the location
    was
actually found. You lied by omission. What's new?

Here is what happened when I followed your "navigate to/go to"
    with Siri:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JAsc9Q9eLZ4pjkMtDpGRed812g7AQFeo/view?usp=sharing

Nothing changed, failed. So, I tried to use Apple Maps to find
bakerMEDIA. Failed again. Tried that in Google Maps. First try
failed, tried again and found you. Then asked Siri to find my model
aircraft flying field. Failed. Google finds it just fine.

What book do I need to read to figure out Siri.

Please make your video again and show the results on the map.

Last thing, why can't I get Hey Google to work on iPhone without
opening the Google Assistant? In other words, in place of Hey Siri?
Oh, I already know. It's so much better than Siri that Apple would
never allow it. LOL you little shit. You really are one of the
least honest people I've ever had the misfortune to encounter,
    Little Shit.

    1. "Why do I even need Siri instructions?"

Every piece of software ever written has operating instructions,
Little Shit. And everyone I've ever encountered knows that to kick
of a request for directions you start with "Directions to" or
    "Navigate to".

    2. "LOL, you shut off your video before showing that the location
    was actually found."

That's a lie. You heard me ask Siri for directions and you could
read the text that she also spoke:

"Getting directions to 12999 Pennsylvania St, Carmel, IN, US" is
literally shown to you in my video. The text appears at 00:08 and
    remains until 00:14.

Then you can clearly see the interface for origin and destination
appear with "My Location" as the origin and "12999 Pennsylvania..."
    shown as the destination.

Then it shows an overview of the entire route, clearly showing it
begins in Vancouver and ends in Carmel.

    3. "Here is what happened when I followed your "navigate to/go to"
    with Siri:"

So having already pressed a button in the interface so it is
expecting and address to be given, you NOW preface your address
    with "directions to"?

    LOLOLOLOLOL!

    LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO

"Every piece of software ever written has operating instructions,
Little Shit. And everyone I've ever encountered knows that to kick of
a request for directions you start with "Directions to" or "Navigate
    to".

    This is a blatant lie.
    No, it's not.

Dumbass, the iOS Google Maps app is software. Just open Google Maps
and give it only an address. The software finds it. No need for a
preface. But that's expected. It is a Maps app.
Except you are opening an app FIRST.

Siri is a multitasking digital assistant.

Now, open the Google app SOFTWARE, not Google Maps. Ask for the 12999
    N. Pennsylvania Carmel address. It displays a map. Tap on the map.
Then tap Start. It takes you to Maps, with driving directions. Google understands that you might want to find the address and go to it.
That's why I use Google, not the POS Siri.
I don't have the "Google app SOFTWARE" currently, but that's irrelevant.

Two companies making different choices about their software doesn't make your bullshit about software not needing to be used according to the way
it is designed any more true.

    Next:

"Then it shows an overview of the entire route, clearly showing it
begins in Vancouver and ends in Carmel."

Siri found Carmel! There isn't an honest bone in your entire body.
You failed to show that Siri found the correct street or street
    number.
Siri showed you in words that it found the precise address:
"Getting directions to 12999 Pennsylvania St, Carmel, IN, US"
That is the text that YOU KNOW WAS DISPLAYED.

Yes, Siri found Carmel IN, but where in Carmel? Is it the actual
location or not? You did not zoom in on Carmel to see if the location
    was right or not.
"Getting directions to 12999 Pennsylvania St, Carmel, IN, US"
Here is a short video showing that Siri gets the spoken address with number right, then fails to find the correct location. Then I then
enter the address manually and it goes to the correct location. The problem is that the handoff between Siri and Maps fails. The address
is real, Maps can find it!

    Details:

It's a screen recording, no sound. I ask Siri to get directions to
the address. You can see on the screen Siri appears to get it right,
then the street number gets dropped when Maps tries to find the
address. I manually select the address from recent and Maps gets it
    right.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wY-1b6GmRnIF4SNqrqNQR4IWaEpQ4EN4/view?usp=share_link
    And your link requires access...

...and if there's no sound, how can I assess how you made your request
    to Siri?

Now, here is Google Maps finding the same address via voice command. Google gets the dictation right and finds the location correctly. As
I stated above, the Google app itself also finds the correct location
    by voice command.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yDy3Yfho_yxIA38ZrP2ABZMwCX8gvpAc/view?usp=share_link
And you had to first open the Google Maps app and (presumably) tap the microphone icon.

So not a handsfree process and you were in an app which clearly expected
a location as the input you were making.

Please do your search over and show that Siri actually found the
correct Carmel address, not just the city!
"Getting directions to 12999 Pennsylvania St, Carmel, IN, US"
You saw it, you lying Little Shit.

Now ask Siri then Google to find directions to "bakerMEDIA Vancouver British Columbia". LOL

    Siri can't even find you!
And this is relevant... ...how exactly?

    This:

Repeating the link to the Siri find, with public access:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wY-1b6GmRnIF4SNqrqNQR4IWaEpQ4EN4/view?usp=sharing

You don't need sound. You can see that Siri is active on the home page and is showing I said "Hey Siri go to 12999 North Pennsylvania Carmel"

    Then this:

"Getting directions to 12999 Pennsylvania St, Carmel, IN, US"
You saw it, you lying Little Shit.

Well, when I do that it says that on screen too. Then the location shown on the map is 2 miles south of actual.
You don't zoom in on Carmel to show the location because it's wrong and you saw that. You are lying.

    Then this:

"So not a handsfree process and you were in an app which clearly expected
a location as the input you were making."

Yes, not handsfree but it finds the right place. Not all software needs you to say "go to" or similar. You lied.

    it's your home address?

The fact of the matter is that when used as you're supposed to, Siri has
no trouble providing directions to the address you claimed it couldn't find.

It's also a fact that when trying to rebut this, you deliberately chose
to subvert the correct way to use Siri, but not using Siri at all, but
by pressing the button within an Apple Carplay interface that would then
be expecting just an address and adding "go to" in front of it.

You can keep focused on the road by using Siri to get
directions. And by listening to turn-by-turn spoken
directions, you can follow driving, cycling, and
walking directions without even looking at your
    iPhone.

    Siri: Say something like:

“Get directions to the nearest coffee shop”

    “Find a charging station”

    “Give me directions home”'
You asked specifically for what you did wrong, Little
    Shit.

How completely like you not to acknowledge it.

Now, you post a video, with sound, of you finding
that address with Siri using the exact words I did.
If you cannot then it's you lying.
You mean if I don't incompetently behave as you did,
    I'm lying, Little Shit?

You totally fail to address the issue. I used both Siri and Google to >>>>>>> get directions. Google does turn-by-turn vocal
directions too. Google does find the nearest too. And you
don't need to even look at the map with Google either.

What would you have me do differently?
Use the phrase that I told you to use.

Use the phrase that Apple's support page tells you to use.

The issue is that Siri failed to find the place I wanted
to go when I spoke the exact address. Want to see some
    more Siri/Maps failures?
The issue is that by not starting with "directions to" or
    "navigate to", Siri misunderstood you.

Your claim that Siri is unable to navigate to that exact
address was WRONG, Little Shit. And if you hadn't been so
excited to find what you thought was a "flaw"...

...you might have done at least one web search for "how to
    use siri for navigation"...

...where the very first hit would have told you what you
    were doing
    wrong.

    <https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=how+to+use+siri+for+navigation&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8>

Why do I even need Siri instructions? Siri is so dumb you need to
read an instruction book first? ROTFLMAO!

LOL, you shut off your video before showing that the
    location was
actually found. You lied by omission. What's new?

Here is what happened when I followed your "navigate to/go
    to" with Siri:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JAsc9Q9eLZ4pjkMtDpGRed812g7AQFeo/view?usp=sharing

Nothing changed, failed. So, I tried to use Apple Maps to find
bakerMEDIA. Failed again. Tried that in Google Maps. First try
failed, tried again and found you. Then asked Siri to find my
model aircraft flying field. Failed. Google finds it just
    fine.

What book do I need to read to figure out Siri.

Please make your video again and show the results on the
    map.

Last thing, why can't I get Hey Google to work on iPhone
    without
opening the Google Assistant? In other words, in place of Hey
Siri? Oh, I already know. It's so much better than Siri that
Apple would never allow it. LOL you little shit. You really are
one of the least honest people I've ever had the misfortune to
    encounter, Little Shit.

    1. "Why do I even need Siri instructions?"

Every piece of software ever written has operating
instructions, Little Shit. And everyone I've ever encountered
knows that to kick of a request for directions you start with
    "Directions to" or "Navigate to".

    2. "LOL, you shut off your video before showing that the
    location was actually found."

That's a lie. You heard me ask Siri for directions and you
could read the text that she also spoke:

"Getting directions to 12999 Pennsylvania St, Carmel, IN, US"
is literally shown to you in my video. The text appears at
    00:08 and remains until 00:14.

Then you can clearly see the interface for origin and
destination appear with "My Location" as the origin and "12999
    Pennsylvania..." shown as the destination.

Then it shows an overview of the entire route, clearly showing
it begins in Vancouver and ends in Carmel.

    3. "Here is what happened when I followed your "navigate to/go
    to" with Siri:"

So having already pressed a button in the interface so it is
expecting and address to be given, you NOW preface your
    address with "directions to"?

    LOLOLOLOLOL!

    LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO

"Every piece of software ever written has operating
instructions, Little Shit. And everyone I've ever encountered
knows that to kick of a request for directions you start with
    "Directions to" or "Navigate to".

    This is a blatant lie.
    No, it's not.

Dumbass, the iOS Google Maps app is software. Just open Google
Maps and give it only an address. The software finds it. No need
for a preface. But that's expected. It is a Maps app.
Except you are opening an app FIRST.

Siri is a multitasking digital assistant.

Now, open the Google app SOFTWARE, not Google Maps. Ask for the
12999 N. Pennsylvania Carmel address. It displays a map. Tap on
the map. Then tap Start. It takes you to Maps, with driving
directions. Google understands that you might want to find the
address and go to it. That's why I use Google, not the POS Siri.
I don't have the "Google app SOFTWARE" currently, but that's
    irrelevant.

Two companies making different choices about their software doesn't
make your bullshit about software not needing to be used according
to the way it is designed any more true.

    Next:

"Then it shows an overview of the entire route, clearly showing
it begins in Vancouver and ends in Carmel."

Siri found Carmel! There isn't an honest bone in your entire
body. You failed to show that Siri found the correct street or
    street number.
Siri showed you in words that it found the precise address:
"Getting directions to 12999 Pennsylvania St, Carmel, IN, US" That
is the text that YOU KNOW WAS DISPLAYED.

Yes, Siri found Carmel IN, but where in Carmel? Is it the actual
location or not? You did not zoom in on Carmel to see if the
    location was right or not.
"Getting directions to 12999 Pennsylvania St, Carmel, IN, US"
Here is a short video showing that Siri gets the spoken address
with number right, then fails to find the correct location. Then
I then enter the address manually and it goes to the correct
location. The problem is that the handoff between Siri and Maps
fails. The address is real, Maps can find it!

    Details:

It's a screen recording, no sound. I ask Siri to get directions
to the address. You can see on the screen Siri appears to get it
right, then the street number gets dropped when Maps tries to
find the address. I manually select the address from recent and
    Maps gets it right.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wY-1b6GmRnIF4SNqrqNQR4IWaEpQ4EN4/view?usp=share_link

    And your link requires access...

...and if there's no sound, how can I assess how you made your
    request to Siri?

Now, here is Google Maps finding the same address via voice
command. Google gets the dictation right and finds the location
correctly. As I stated above, the Google app itself also finds
the correct location by voice command.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yDy3Yfho_yxIA38ZrP2ABZMwCX8gvpAc/view?usp=share_link

And you had to first open the Google Maps app and (presumably) tap
    the microphone icon.

So not a handsfree process and you were in an app which clearly
expected a location as the input you were making.

Please do your search over and show that Siri actually found the
correct Carmel address, not just the city!
"Getting directions to 12999 Pennsylvania St, Carmel, IN, US" You
saw it, you lying Little Shit.

Now ask Siri then Google to find directions to "bakerMEDIA
    Vancouver British Columbia". LOL

    Siri can't even find you!
And this is relevant... ...how exactly?

    This:

Repeating the link to the Siri find, with public access:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wY-1b6GmRnIF4SNqrqNQR4IWaEpQ4EN4/view?usp=sharing

You don't need sound. You can see that Siri is active on the home
page and is showing I said "Hey Siri go to 12999 North Pennsylvania Carmel"
When you were told to say "Directions to" or "Navigate to" you say "go
    to" instead.

    Then this:

"Getting directions to 12999 Pennsylvania St, Carmel, IN, US" You saw
    it, you lying Little Shit.

Well, when I do that it says that on screen too.
That's a lie. There is never a single frame on your screen where Siri displays text that says that. Not one frame.

In my video, the words displayed in light text on a darkened screen are
the words that Siri is also speaking to me.

"Getting directions to 12999 Pennsylvania St, Carmel, IN, US…"
    Then the location
shown on the map is 2 miles south of actual. You don't zoom in on
Carmel to show the location because it's wrong and you saw that. You
    are lying.
Unlike you, Little Shit, I don't lie:

    <https://drive.google.com/file/d/1M25bAP6qnmd3gCi2G7q7Wovj3cTD59IE/view?usp=share_link>

    Any more objections?

    Then this:

"So not a handsfree process and you were in an app which clearly
expected a location as the input you were making."

Yes, not handsfree but it finds the right place. Not all software
needs you to say "go to" or similar. You lied.
I never said that all software required you to say '"go to" or similar', Little Shit.

I said all software has operating instructions.

    And this:

"And this is relevant... ...how exactly?"

    Watch this:

    [Stalking link snipped]

And you throw in a little stalking as well!

Google finds [redacted] and maps it with directions and navigation.
Siri fails to find [redacted]. I have dozens of similar locations
that Google will take you to ans Siri can't even find.
And you chose to lessen my privacy by using my information...

    ...why?

Shall I mention your business's name and address, Little Shit? And that
    it's your home address?

The fact of the matter is that when used as you're supposed to, Siri has
no trouble providing directions to the address you claimed it couldn't find.

It's also a fact that when trying to rebut this, you deliberately chose
to subvert the correct way to use Siri, but not using Siri at all, but
by pressing the button within an Apple Carplay interface that would then
be expecting just an address and adding "go to" in front of it.

Go back to the original post in this thread and defend against the articles cited. The issues are much larger than an obscure Carmel address.

Do you ever try asking Siri to find "Manor Care"?

Deliberately subverting the process after you've been told what process
