Yes, I did too, We both seem to use Enternal-September for our Usenet
feeds. Possibly an issue on one fo their servers caused the issue.

I too am seeing this.
I've picked it up on Thunderbird (which, unusually, I'm using to
reply) and am wondering if there is a 'Delete duplicates' option
like the one in Pluto.
I didn't know there was a delete duplicates in Pluto. You learn
something every day. Now where is it?

Yesterday (Monday) I couldn't connect to Eternal-September for a while,
then when it came back again the two usenet groups I have on it downloaded masses of back postings I'd already seen before.

Sometimes, due to hardware or software updates, news servers can have
article numbers changed.
As Newshound works by fetching new articles based on the last article downloaded from a particular group, when articles on the server are renumbered, it will fetch older articles such as those described in
this thread.
Not a fault in the software as such.
