• Trouble with Shanghai

From John@21:1/5 to All on Mon Sep 30 14:06:21 2024
Paul Vigay's Shanghai is crashing on me and locking up my
    RockyRAID.

I first noticed a problem when trying to adjust the tile
spacing but recently just opening it can cause the video to
blank and come back a couple of times before the machine
    locks up.

I've tried using Reporter to see if anything shows but I
can't see anything in the output. That might be because
I've not set the correct options in Reporter.

If anyone has any idea as to what might have gone wrong,
I'd be grateful for any help.

    John

    Try David Chapman's implementation:
    http://www.vigay.com/software/shanghai.html

You will need to replace the sound modules with
Colin Ferris' versions (which I can provide).

Thanks Stewart but the link to David's page yields:

Not really a big surprise... :-)

That seems to link to a valid archive of version 1.06.

    Just found the original xchange with Colin (2015);
he says "The ColourMap seemed to just needed the
32bit flag set" - so it seems we need that as well!

    Thanks, Steve.

The game plays without blowing up but it'll take me some
time to get used to the classic tiles.
