Heh. :-) I pop into .advocacy for the first time in years, and what do
I find? Good ol' Jer is *still* in here, posting in the same threads!
    ;-)
FWIW - I'm a diehard Amiga advocate, BUT:
    1) I think Windows (certainly NT and '95) *do* qualify as an "OS".
    2) I think Windows is a *crap* OS.
    3) I don't see why fellow Amiga users, when trying to bash Windows,
have to resort to the old "it's not an OS anyway" tactic. Come *on*,
there are so many aspects you *could* pick on, why choose one that
gives its sympathisers a fighting chance?
: Get the facts. Windows multitasks DOS apps preemptively. It's the
: only way it can be done.
    Yes.
You are a complete idiot. Enough said.
    No comment. ;-)
Do you try to imply that Jerry is wrong?
I'm not so sure he did. I think he was just expressing his opinion
    about Jerry. ;-)
If so, you should ask yourself why
he used the phrase ""Oh boy, not *this* again"....
My guess is pretty clear from my first paragraph.
Hmm... As an alternative tactic, how about remembering all the guys who
were saying the Amiga was dead and would never be made again about
this time last year? I'm sure one or two must have promised to do
something (eat a hat/floppy disk/etc) if they were proved wrong. Could
    be entertaining. :-)

I keep hearin' people (PC users, Amiga users, everyone) refer to Windows
as an 'OS!' Windows is NOT an OS, but merely a GUI patch to the shell.
An OS allows you to access devices, as well as SW from the main
interface. Windows allows no direct access to devices from the Program Manager, like ADOS does from the workbench. WHY, WHY, WHY do people keep insisting that Windows is an OS??? Frankly, I just don't see how it can be construed as such! Windows is nothing but a GUI patch to MS-DOS, or in simpler terms, an executable program, with a hell of a lot of support files! If anyone disagrees with this, then tell me how to access my drives from
the program manager... I would really be interested to see how (snicker snicker!). ***************************************************************************** | When the heart rules, foolish actions result. | Stephen S. Call it what you want, Windows files and devices are managed from the top level GUI.
