From ROUGOL@21:1/5 to All on Wed Jun 11 06:45:02 2025
The next meeting of the RISC OS User Group Of London will be:

    Everything(ish) I did at Acorn
    Presented by Hugo Tyson

    Monday 16th June 2025, 7:45pm

    The Duke of Sussex
(upstairs in the Chichester Room from 6.30pm)
    23 Baylis Road, London, SE1 7AY
    https://rougol.jellybaby.net/venue.html

Also online via Zoom, meeting open from 7.30pm

Hugo Tyson first joined Acorn in June 1980, starting full time in Sept
1982, and was there until 1990. Hugo will be joining us in the pub for a
drink or two to tell us about everything(ish) he did while at Acorn.

He worked on many projects such as DFS, ADFS, RISCiX, and on ARM
development. Anyone who has ever examined a BBC Micro ADFS disc will
recognise his name, as the directory check marker was the string HUGO.

As we have just passed the 40th anniversary of the first ARM processor,
Hugo will also include details about how he wrote tests for the ARM before
it even existed, and how his creative error messages caused a scandal at
ARM despite never having worked there!

This meeting will also be online via Zoom, but being in the pub will give
more time to chat to Hugo before the meeting starts, and to ply him with
drinks to get the juicier stories :-)

*Note* we are in the bigger Chichester Room this month, as having spoken
to Hugo at the recent ARM anniversary event I can say that he is a very entertaining speaker and it will be well worth being in the pub if you can
to chat to him before and after the main presentation. We will probably
hear some of the more, err, colourful tales that other speakers wouldn't
    cover!

Directions to the venue by car (there is parking directly outside the pub
on Coral Street) and public transport (recommended!) are on the website:
