Tomorrow - 12th October - is the next opportunity for anyone with an
interest in RISC OS and software development to gather together in front
of the virtual fire for an informal chat.
These meetings, which take place more or less monthly using the Zoom video conferencing system, are a way for people with that interest to get
together and discuss anything related to programming on and for RISC OS.
There is no preset agenda for these meetings, and no speaker arranged
ahead of time. Instead, their informal nature means participants can steer
the topic - so a beginner (or even someone experienced) with a problem can
ask for help and advice from others present, programming tools can be demonstrated, early edits of how-to videos may get shown, and so on.
That means there is no specific level of programming expertise required to
join the meeting - you can be that hypothetical beginner (or expert) with
a problem to be resolved, you might be the person developing that tool
other programmers might find useful, and so on; anyone and everyone is
welcome; all that matters is that you have an interest in RISC OS and
software development on or for the platform.
You will also need to be able to run the Zoom software - which is
available for most mainstream platforms from
https://zoom.us - along with
the meeting credentials. You'll have these if you've joined these
developer meetings previously, but if not there are a few ways to get
them:
* You can contact Andrew McCarthy on Twitter at
https://twitter.com/
ArmBytes or Mastodon at
https://mastodon.online/@armbytes - or indeed from
your RISC OS computer using ChatCube.
* Or you can contact me here in the RISCOSitory bunker by replying by
email to this message. Please note, though, that any emails sent to me on
the day of the meeting itself will not receive a reply until very close to
the meeting's start time!
