I unfortunately had to have a look on some DICOM files containing data of a close relative during the last days. The (old) version of the RISC OS port of ImageMagick delivered unsatisfying results with most of the files. So I had a short look on the some thousands PDF pages of the DICOM specification. As I found quickly the required information I decided to write my own DICOM parser application. I called the application MediMan.
MediMan is a very simple parser and extractor for DICOM files. As mentioned above the DICOM specification is complex so you cant expect too much. It is likely that MediMan will fail to parse and extract a couple of DICOM files. However for me and another Betatester it worked in last consequence.
Short explanation: DICOM files are used in medicine at least here in Germany
to exchange data from CT-, X-ray and ultrasonic data.
DICOM files are definitely not a must have. Their existence means that something is wrong with someones health
MediMan parses the contained information as much as possible, displays it in
a taskwindow and tries to extract enclosed data like pictures as sprites.
MediMan is Freeware and can be downloaded from my homepage
http://thomas-milius-stade.dnshome.de/indexE.htm
Section Computer activities
or directly from
http://thomas-milius-stade.dnshome.de/Download/Freeware/MediMan.zip
or from PlingStore.
I hope you are finding the program useful.
