We are pleased to announce that version 2.19 of MusicMan has been released
as a free update for users on !Store.
The main improvements in 2.19 relate to support for latest ARM hardware
such as Pi3(+) and ARMbook, to name a few. This ensures that audio
encoders work correctly on the modern platforms.
There's also an updated version of the VFP hardware-accelerated MP3 audio encoder, which allows users of modern (ARMv7+) RISC OS machines to achieve faster results when using the higher quality MP3 encloder supplied.
Of course, for best quality, we'd recommend FLAC or WAV (both supported by MusicMan).
Other changes in 2.19 include better reporting to the user in case of
problems (eg. you've forgotten to plug your CD drive in).
Some users may also have missed 2.18, which added assisted internet-search
for album art and allowed artwork to be embedded in files for playback on suitable players.
The latest version is available free of charge to all MusicMan 2 owners,
via !Store or upon request.
For those unfamiliar with MusicMan, it allows playback of audio CDs
complete with automated lookup of album and track info. It also allows conversion of music into a variety of formats, with an emphasis on hifi- friendly results. Information can be embedded in all formats of music
(eg. artist, composer, year, album etc) as well as artwork etc.
The resulting files are designed to be as compatible as possible with a
broad range of playback hardware and software, an area where we believe
MM2 matches or surpasses other platforms. Quality should also be first
class.
MusicMan can also catalogues your results, providing a structured music
folder for easy future access.
Best wishes,
Andrew
