So far I'm really enjoying it but then again I'm a big fan of their
other games. There's something quite stratifying about using the shadow
mode which allows you to assign actions to each of your characters and
then execute then all at once. Oh and if you like scum saving then
you'll love this game. It's very much built into it and they even go so
far as to call them memories which you take and can then recall.

If you press 'M' that should bring up the map showing where your
objectives are. As for dying, the real key to understanding how to play
the game is how you unlock groups of enemies. So study walking patterns
and also use the RMB to see where their vision cones are. Then it's just
a case of working out how you can slowly work though killing enemy after
enemy until none are left. Some other things, the levels are quite
deliberate in the way they are set-up so if for example there's some ivy
you can climb it most likely is there for a reason; try not to become
skill blind where you don't think about all the skills available to you
and how they can use them in combinations - so set the teleport trap,
use the bird song to bring a character towards the trap, activate the
trap and you have a dead enemy; shadow mode can be really powerful (not
to mention fun) as sometimes you just need to perfectly co-ordinate the
actions of multiple characters; there are four difficult levels so if
you're finding it frustrating then take it down a notch until you've
become better.
Failing all of that watch some things on YT which should help explain
how it all fits together.
