    I like the Thief games in concept, but the earlier titles I just
    didn't find much fun to actually play. I just didn't find the
    stealthing very intuitive. E.g., I'd be standing in the dark, but the light-gem would say I was completely visible, or vice-versa. Probably
    because one foot was standing in the light or something, but since I
    couldn't see my feet or elbows, I never knew what the problem was.

    It wasn't until "Thief 3" (a.k.a. "Deadly Shadows") that I really
    gelled with the gameplay. The shift to third-person really helped. And
    it had some really cool level design (although the requirement to
    break apart the levels to fit into console memory requirements was
    annoying).

    Anyway, I already own lots of Thief -- on original CD-ROMs, GOTY
    versions, Steam, GOG, the lot!-- so I've no regret on missing out on
    this offer ;-)

    Hmm, I don't recall playing #3. I know I played the first.
