• New guy with a T510

A guy over at rec.crafts.metalworking suggested I post this question
    here ...

My T510 died , I installed a new motherboard . The new board is missing
some info , I get 2 error messages on power up:

2200 type and serial number invalid

    2201 UUID invalid

    Both fields are blank .

It also goes blue screen within a couple of minutes of Windows
starting up and I wonder if it's connected to the missing info . I'm
running 64 bit Win 7 Pro . I did a little digging , it looks like the
only way to correct the missing info is via a floppy disc , so I ordered
one and a couple of discs . Apparently this programming lets me burn a
bootable optical disc or use the USB floppy drive to boot .
If I have to I can wipe the hard drive and reinstall everything .
    Another learning opportunity !

Most likely because the OS doesn't recognize some stuff. Does safe mode
    work?

It's the same OS and programs that I had before the mobo died . I did
put the hard drive in a T420 for a few minutes to see if it would run
there .The 420 is my shop music box , the 510 has programs that the 420
doesn't and I wanted those programs on a comp to take on a trip . It may
have picked up some drivers that are incompatible ... I ended up putting
the programs on the 420 because the swap didn't work out well .
Once I get the UUID and type/serial issue fixed I'll probably end up
wiping the hard drive and starting over .
Side note - I replaced the motherboard in the 420 and had zero issues
, ran perfect from the first time I booted it up .

I found the OS install disc and did a restore back to a date before I
messed with the hard drive , seems to have cured the BSOD problem . Been running over an hour now with no problems . I'll worry about the UUID
and serial number problems when I get the floppy drive and discs . For
nor it's running and stable .
