these are the last two lines my windows'95 autoexec.bat:
c:\dos\cyrix\6x86opt
c:\dos\cyrix\cpuiden
where c:\dos\cyrix stands for the directory of the programs
6x86opt optimized the cyrixprocessor
and cpuiden makes the processor recognizable as a pentium, works for
windows'95
It recognized the processor as a pentium when above two lines were
added to my autoexec.bat.
These files are common fixes for Cyrix 686 cpu's. Check out Tom's
Hardware guide at http://sysdoc.pair.com for a full rundown on the
problems with early 686's and links to the appropriate fixes.
