• Jeff Minter's Turboflex (1982)

    Hello there!

I just bought Jeff Minter's Turboflex (1982) tape
for 8-bit Atari. This game is actually pretty bad,
but it holds some historical significance by being
one of the earliest Llamasoft games. Thinking of
Atari, I guess this could be the very first Llamasoft
    game for that platform.

Ataramania website lists two tape releases: one
by Llamasoft and another by Aackosoft, a Dutch
    company.

My question: How do I find out which version I have?

I do not have a working Atari setup to load this
    game and see.

On the outside, my version looks exactly like the
Llamasoft release pictured on Atarimania, but there
is no photo of the Aackosoft release so I do not
know whether they look the same or not.

I bought mine from the Netherlands so this could
    indeed be the Aackosoft version.

    KK

Thanks to the image editing software GIMP, I was able to
highlight the texts on the tape label. The original photo
is quite unclear, but after some contrast tweaking, I was
able to see the text "laadinstructies". It means "loading
    instructions" in Dutch language.

So the Turboflex mystery has finally been solved: My
version is indeed the Dutch Aackosoft release.

Okay, I did some more web searching and found a nice
    Atari Museum site:

    atarimuseum.nl

They have scans of all the software they have collected.

You could always record the tape to a file on your PC and load it up in
    an emulator ;).
