Didn't think of rebooting the router since VNC was working fine. Did

Often, problems connecting to computers appearing in the Finder sidebar
have to do with routing issues having to do with zeroconf/bonjour:

Stale entries in the routing table are often the cause. Rebooting the
router removes those stale entries. Rebooting the computers afterwards
allows them to refresh their caches as well.
Also, try choosing Go > Connect to Server on the Mac end entering the
current IP address of the Windows computer.
This was doing the same thing. I use this when the PC doesn't show up
in Locations->Network. This also started to work again. No idea why.
The router is usually the first suspect in such cases.
